If you have grown up in Pataskala, then our Downtown area should be a part of many of your memories. There are many wonderful businesses throughout the Downtown Pataskala area and recently one has joined this historical area: Griffin’s Floral Design.

Griffin’s Floral Design (formerly Flowers by Rick) have moved their main building to the brick building across the street from Post House, Too on the East side of St. Rt. 310 just south of Chet’s Auto Repair. Combined, there has been over 25 years of service to the Pataskala and Columbus areas. Owners Russ and Sarah Griffin, worked for Rick Claprood for over 10 years after graduating from Watkins Memorial (Russ), and Licking Heights High School (Sarah). They are a Christian floral and gift company that is now Columbus, Ohio’s leading online floral gift delivery company and wedding planner. Griffin’s has so much to offer the local consumer such as gift items, interior design planning, furniture, china, Yankee Candles, gourmet deserts, and much more – especially beautiful fresh flowers. Russ Griffin was proud to add that their prices are very competitive and come in all ranges for any customer’s needs.

Griffin’s had decided earlier in 2011 that they needed to move to a new facility and were looking at the Columbus area for their main store. Then, Russ and Sarah felt compelled to purchase this historic gem for their store and began work in August. Like any old building, there were many repairs needed. Over the recent years some nice cosmetic work had been done, but the building has needed a new roof, and entire exterior wall on the north side as well as a significant amount of interior work to remove all of the mold and damage from water leaking into the roof and even a gas leak. Russ is very grateful for the support and kindness he received from the City administration during this process and was very excited to move into the new building Thanksgiving weekend. The original building was built in the early 1900’s by West Licking Historical Society Martha Tykodi’s grandfather as a car dealership. Over the years, it has been a hardware store, video rental store, gift shop, and chiropractic office.

Another feature, which is unique for Griffins Floral in our region is the I-Phone and Android app. Their website: www.griffingsfloraldesigns. com, and you can download the app from them or search for Griffins under floral in the market. You can also shop online and browse different arrangements to fit your budget needs. They have a rewards program, which will allow you to earn points towards future floral orders as well.

The Griffin family is so thankful for their blessings from God, who has helped them find a way to make this dream a reality, and are also very grateful for the community support they have received over these past months.
