Decorating for Summer Gatherings with Outdoor Plants

outdoor plantsAll across America and Ohio is no exception; people take advantage of the warm and sunny summer weather to host their summer gatherings outside. Patios, balconies, decks, and outdoor living areas are an extension of the home today. That’s why it’s just as important to think about decorating your outdoor entertaining space as you would think about your indoor entertaining areas. Every member of our design team here at Griffins Floral Designs feels very passionate about coming up with container plant designs that are as well-suited to outdoor living spaces as they are in the home.

If you’re looking for an exciting accent plant that will be a conversation piece, consider putting a Money Tree on your deck, patio, or balcony entertainment area. If you subscribe to the practices of Feng Shui, this tree should bring you good luck and good fortune. It needs to be in a warm place – so an outdoor table in a location protected from direct sunlight is ideal. Be sure you bring it inside when temperatures dip below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. You will enjoy the good luck and fortune it brings you, whether you have it inside or outdoors.

If you like the streamlined minimalism and elegance of Asian design, then consider showcasing a beautiful Noah Bonsai. This truly unusual miniature tree comes in an 8-inch ceramic bowl. Bonsai plants are lovely to look at and fun to grow, but best of all, they add ambiance to any space where you put them. Like the Money Tree, this bonsai plant needs to be where temperatures range from 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t allow it to remain outside if the temperature drops below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. These small trees grow slowly, so they are ideal accent plants for an outdoor table during the summer.

A Begonia plant is the perfect outdoor accent plant. There are many types of begonia plants, and they come in a range of colors. We offer a variety that has more unusual-looking flowers. We can give you a pink or red begonia (and we will try to accommodate your color request.) This lush begonia comes in a clay planter that will look wonderful in any outdoor setting. You can use this delightful plant to decorate a coffee table in an outdoor living area, place it on an end table in an outdoor conversation area, or use it as a centerpiece on your outdoor dining table.
