Floral Designer Spotlight – Meet Tracy

Floral Design Day originated as a celebration of one man. Carl Rittner was the founder of the Rittner’s School of Floral Design in Boston – and was one of the first to champion floral designers as artisans, and their efforts as an art form. The legacy of Rittner’s passion reaches into virtually every florist in the United States, and it is in this spirit that Griffin’s Floral Designs celebrates our talented team of professionals. In particular, we would like to introduce you to Tracy.

She began her career early, taking vocational classes in high school while interning in the industry. She has worked at florists for 32 years and finds teaching others all of the things she has learned in that time very rewarding. Tracy brought her experience to Griffin’s 13 years ago, and we couldn’t be happier to have her with us!

Tracy exemplifies the tradition of fusing artistic concepts with flowers – and cites the interpreting of art pieces into floral design as her favorite project.  She also loves working on unique and abstract wedding designs, as well as “celebration of life” designs that help to tell the story of a family.  Her favorite flowers to work with include white Oriental lilies, as well as tropical and unique foliages. She is drawn to creating with monochromatic or white and green color palettes.

” I love working with flowers, and exploring the artistry of flowers.”, Tracy says. ” I love that Griffins Floral Design offers so many varieties of flowers and unique greenery – and that they demand truly creative work. I understand that traditional work is a necessity and plays a vital role in our industry, but the emphasis on fun creations is what I love about working with this company. I have worked in a lot of flower shops over the years and can truly say that Griffin’s has been my favorite and most rewarding place to work .”

Tracy also mentions the real passion behind what she does. ” Knowing that my work can truly touch people in a positive way – when they may need it most – is what keeps me so satisfied after so many years in the industry.”

” I love seeing the faces of people that my work reaches.”, she continues. “My goal has always been to send gifts that I myself would like to receive, always being sure to give the client my very best. With an ever-changing industry, it is so easy to get caught up in the day to day moments.”

When she is not creating beautiful florals, Tracy loves antique shopping – searching for primitive designs and furnishings. She has been married to her husband John for 26 years and has a daughter and two grandchildren. She is grateful for the life she leads, adding “My church and my faith in Christ is where my true inspiration comes from. I give all thanks and glory to Him.”

In our opinion, Tracy is one of the best floral designers in Columbus. For these or other spectacular designs, stop by our shop and say hello. We’d love to help you choose the perfect flowers for every occasion.
