So when it comes time for proms or spring dances, we understand how to design wearable flowers that will add all the class and style that you are looking for.
Don’t Forget! In addition to proms, graduation ceremonies and Mother’s Day are two additional spring occasions that call for beautiful corsages! History: The idea of wearing flowers to accessorize our attire is a custom that goes back to ancient times. However, their reasons did not include fashion. Women wore flowers on the bodice (corset) of their dress, and men wore flowers and herbs on their lapel. This was done to ward off diseases and bad luck, as well as to keep evil spirits at bay. The custom continued for centuries, and it was not until the 1800’s that people realized that flowers did not have the power attributed to them. Flowers were, therefore, less frequently worn, and were considered more of a luxury item. Finally, the corsage became a gift from a potential suitor – and the tradition of offering a “bouquet de corsage” when going out for a special evening was born.
There are many types of wearable flowers for proms, including:
Corsage: The corsage was traditionally worn in the center of the bodice, but in more modern times wrist corsages have become more prevalent. They are often comprised of roses and orchids, but any flower can be used.
Boutonniere: Worn by men on the lapel of their suit, a boutonniere is usually a single bloom, or may consist of several small blooms.
Nosegay Bouquets and Floral Crowns: Nosegays, which are small handheld bouquets, are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to corsages. Floral crowns and custom hairpieces are a beautiful alternative way to add flowers.
