The ending of another holiday season. How does it affect you?
Whew! We made it through yet another holiday season, mostly unscathed. So now what happens? For some people the ending of a holiday season can bring a feeling of disappointment or even depression. In essence, post-holiday blues. You say great, so how do I make them go away? Here are just a few simple steps to getting back into the swing of things and even some suggestions on sticking to your New Year Resolutions.
Every year Thanksgiving arrives and brings along with it a whirlwind of the Christmas holiday followed by New Year’s Eve; And it all happens in a blink. The highs of shopping, gift giving and holiday parties with family and friends comes to a halt and it saddens you. Here’s what you do to lift yourself up. Take some firery action and jump right back into the things that you do on a regular basis. Things like raising your children, work and your favorite hobbies. Remember, just because the holidays are over, it doesn’t mean you have to stop seeing your friends and family. For instance, have a tree un-trimming party with the kids. Besides January 1, there isn’t much going on so, why not put on some cool jazz and throw an after the holiday party. Your friends may enjoy reconnecting with each other as much as you do.
As for your resolutions, be realistic and optimistic. Grab your new planner or calendar and write out your top two to three goals for the new year. Pinpoint the dates in which you hope to reach these goals within your calendar. Then, jot down your goals and the mini goals you will need to accomplish your resolutions. If you are realistic in your expectations then you won’t be disappointed in your outcome. When your goals are complete, hold your head up and indulge in the blue horizon sky because you have earned it.
