We’ve finally done it. Griffin’s Floral Design has put together the perfect crib sheet to all of the flower festivals and events you’re going to want to attend next year in the midwest. Spring and summer across the country is awash in flowers at their peak, blooming with color and fragrance. These destinations make the most of their most beautiful assets by essentially throwing a party and inviting the rest of us. While you make your travel plans, spend some time at our very own Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, getting inspired. You’re welcome.
Lilac Festival, Mackinac Island, Michigan
It’s a beautiful island that feels lost in time, right smack dab in Lake Huron, with no vehicles allowed. It’s the most idyllic spot for a lilac festival (they grow in abundance here), which is occasion to hold concerts, culinary events, wine tastings, animal shows and, of course, a parade.
Tulip Time, Holland, Michigan
This town is modeled after its namesake, so you’ll see plenty of traditional Dutch design, as well as culture. Most importantly, you’ll marvel at the 4.5 million tulips on display during this weekend, where there’s parades, costumed Dutch dancing and a tulip-filled marketplace.
Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis
While this isn’t an event per se, St. Louis’s garden has consistently drawn national accolades for its incredible grounds and holdings. The Climatron deserves all of the attention it gets for simulating the climates of three different spots on the globe, while the Victorian-era observatory, Turkish garden and 6,8000 species of plants are like the cherry on top. It’s enough to make you come right home and order up our Blooming Garden Bowl.
