TASTING NOTES: 95+ Rating, Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve, Spring Mountain - Small Lot Production

Small Lot Production, Only 350 cases.  2015 marks the 39th vintage for the Robert Keenan Winery and the 15th consecutive vintage of Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This year’s blend consists of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 7 from our “Big K” vineyard, and 5% Cabernet Franc from our “Upper Bowl” vineyard. Deep aromatics, piercing and precise, a full rich saturated mouth feel, and a long lasting multi-layered finish define this exemplary blend. Enjoy now or decades from now. Cheers

The enduring dedication of the Keenan winery staff is the reason for the excellent quality of all of our wines. These close relationships are a foundation for a truly comprehensive knowledge of winemaking and grape growing on Spring Mountain.

Our family uses a truly collaborative approach to winemaking, with President Michael Keenan working in concert with General Manager Matt Gardner, Cellar Master Aristeo Garcia Martinez and Assistant Cellar Master Ricardo Segura. Matt has been with the estate since 1995. Together, they work along with Michael and Jennifer Walker Keenan‘s son, Reilly Keenan, to establish winemaking protocols, aging, and the finished style of Keenan wines. The combination of their long term and first-hand knowledge of the winery and vineyards is the key to producing exceptional wines that reflect a minimal, more natural and balanced style.

A clear example is our use of less new French oak in the aging process, allowing the pure flavors of each grape variety to prevail in the finished wine. Michael Keenan takes the responsibility for all final decisions, choosing a ‘wait-and-taste’ approach to determine the optimum length of time each of the Keenan wines spends in barrel and bottle prior to release. These decisions are determined by his palate rather than as a response to market pressure.

We think you’ll agree that our wines reveal wonderful character, combined with complex, tight-knit tannins, great structure, and definitive age-ability.
